Surface ("the Service") is a software-as-a-service ("SaaS") product operated by Areussi Software Solutions Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202616170K), a company registered in Singapore ("Areussi", "we", "us"). The Service provides AI-assisted analysis of documents you submit through your account. By creating an account or using the Service, you ("you", "User") agree to these Terms of Use.
Use of the Service requires a registered user account, authenticated via email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for lawful personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, resell, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or build a competing product using the Service or its outputs.
Document files are read locally in your browser and are never uploaded to or stored by Areussi. We extract the text from your document on your device and transmit only that text to our analysis backend.
The extracted text passes through Areussi's servers (hosted on Netlify) solely for the purpose of forwarding it to Anthropic's API for AI processing. We do not retain the document text after the analysis completes; the text exists only in transit and in temporary in-memory processing.
Anthropic, our AI processing partner, does not use API submissions to train its models. Anthropic's terms apply to the AI processing itself.
The analysis output (the structured JSON result, including extracted facts, risks, obligations, etc.) is stored in our database (Supabase) under your user account so that you can re-open your previous analyses through the Document History feature. You can delete any individual analysis from your history at any time. Deletion is permanent.
For the Document Comparison feature, both versions are processed entirely in your browser — neither is transmitted to our backend or to Anthropic.
The Service is offered on a tiered subscription basis. Each tier (Free, Pro, Enterprise) carries a monthly allowance of analyses. Your current usage and remaining quota are displayed within the Service. Unused analyses do not roll over between months.
Where a paid subscription applies, billing is administered by our payment processor (Stripe). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial periods.
We reserve the right to adjust pricing, tier limits, and feature availability with reasonable notice. Material changes will be notified to you by email or in-product notice before taking effect.
Analysis results are generated by a third-party large language model and may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, or misleading. AI may misinterpret context, miss material clauses, or surface concerns that are not in fact problematic for your situation.
The Service is not a substitute for professional legal, financial, accounting, or other expert advice. Output does not constitute professional advice, does not establish a client relationship of any kind, and must not be solely relied upon. You must independently verify all output and consult qualified professionals before acting on any analysis. Areussi accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI-generated output.
You agree not to use the Service to: (a) submit documents containing unlawful content; (b) submit personal data of third parties without their lawful basis or consent; (c) submit documents that infringe any intellectual property or confidentiality obligation; (d) attempt to circumvent usage limits, security controls, or rate limits; (e) use the Service to develop a competing AI service; or (f) use the Service in violation of any applicable law, regulation, or sanctions regime, or in violation of Anthropic's usage policies. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this clause.
Although we do not store document content, we recommend caution when submitting highly sensitive material. Do not submit documents containing payment card details, government identification numbers, health records, or classified information. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any document you upload and that doing so does not breach any confidentiality obligation owed to a third party.
The Service, including its design, code, branding, prompts, analytical methodologies, and all associated materials, is the intellectual property of Areussi Software Solutions Pte. Ltd. All rights reserved.
Documents you submit and the analysis output generated for you remain your property. By using the Service, you grant Areussi a limited licence to process your document text solely for the purpose of providing the analysis to you, and to store your resulting analyses for your access via Document History.
Aggregated, fully anonymised statistics about Service usage (e.g. count of analyses per document type) may be retained for product improvement.
We process personal data (your account email, account metadata, and your stored analyses) in accordance with applicable data protection laws including Singapore's PDPA and, where relevant, the GDPR. You may request export or deletion of your account data by contacting us. Account deletion is permanent and removes all stored analyses.
We aim to keep the Service available but do not warrant uninterrupted operation. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages (Anthropic, Supabase, Netlify, Stripe), force majeure events, and other factors may interrupt the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at our discretion.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Areussi's aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period shall not exceed the fees you paid for the Service during that period (or USD 50 if no fees were paid). Areussi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of opportunity, or reputational harm. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
You may terminate your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or non-payment. On termination, your access to the Service ceases and any unbilled fees become due. We will retain your stored data for a reasonable period to allow account recovery, after which it will be deleted.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or via in-product notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
